MBS Mountainboards
The pioneer of mountainboarding, Jason Lee, founded MBS Mountainboards. Mountainboarding combines the concept of a snowboard with wheels for all-terrain riding in all four seasons.
My role for projects below included: concept, design, illustration, writing, production and printing specs & management.

1998 Catalog
I was the lead designer for the first MBS Mountainboards catalog. The theme was Meltdown and a reoccurring tag line running throughout the catalog was “Snow Melts”, which reinforced their main selling point: the all-terrain board that can be ridden all year. The 16-page catalog featured boards, wheels, parts, accessories and clothing.

1999 Catalog & Sales Kit
Further brand integration efforts were enhanced in 1999 to design a dual purpose sales kit to showcase the mountainboards, accessories and gear of MBS Mountainboards. Its first purpose was serving B2B and B2C customers, mainly with the catalog and two-sided poster — these featured technical illustrations and photo collages (product and lifestyle images) so that board shops could use the product side, and boarders could use the lifestyle side. Its second purpose was to showcase the upscale, custom folder and kit to sell ski resorts on the idea of another profit center during the off-season.

2000 Catalog
Brand integration continued in 2000 with this 16-page catalog to showcase the mountainboards, accessories and gear of MBS Mountainboards. Due to the extreme sport and lifestyle that is mountainboarding, creative freedom was in store, but with product focus as the driving factor. Because the action shots were all of varying quality, I manipulated and colored them to complement the products on the spread. Landscape format also enhanced the images and worked well for product layout. I also designed a “tirekicker” direct mail brochure which was a double-sided poster containing all products.

Packaging
As a co-branded effort between MBS Mountainboards and Jeep—both pioneers of off-road travel—I developed this retail packaging for Target stores. Two boards were featured as well-known Jeep models, CJ-5 and Wrangler, and were meant for young, entry-level riders at a more competitive price point.

Ad Campaign
Furhter brand integration for MBS Mountainboards continued with this print ad campaign for major publications: Snowboarding Magazine and Transworld Snowboarding Magazine. These full-spread ads challenged snowboarders to elevate their riding addiction and skills all year long, on all terrain.
